Yosemite

Our family traveled to Yosemite this weekend for our good friends Lindsay and Nick's wedding. We rented a cabin with my parents and friends Leti and Josh. Its has been a long time since I had been to Yosemite and I had forgotten how breath taking it is. Saturday we spent the day site seeing. We hiked to a couple of waterfalls. The kids loved being outside. Dusty loved climbing the boulders and even took a swim in the freezing cold stream. It was a wonderful day and we were exhausted by the time we got back to our cabin. The next morning, were tried to recuperate from our the previous day before heading over to the wedding. The ceremony was at a quaint chapel followed by a reception at the Ahwahnee Hotel. The wedding was amazing: beautiful scenery, great food, and wonderful people!

Two for Two

Last week Gavin and Lincoln celebrated their 2nd Birthday. I probably always say this...but I can't believe they are already two years old!

At two years old, Gavin is a talking machine! He repeats everything you say and says everything. I am amazed at how fast he catches on. I only have to tell him the name of an object once and he's got it. He loves to play outside, dig in the dirt, climb. He is busy and definitely all boy! He "runs "everywhere. One of his favorite things to do right now, is have a "Dance Party." He turns on the music, stands on anything high, and gets his groove on. He loves to play chase and calls out "I get you" at any chance he has.

At two years old, Lincoln has become the happiest kid I know. He never wines and rarely cries. He is a night owl and would stay up all night if we let him. His smile is contagious. He loves people and is in no way shy. He loves to giggle and has an adorable deep belly laugh. His favorite thing to do right now is walk. He is walking very well holding onto one hand and has recently started taking a few steps on his own. Lincoln loves Patch (our dog) and thinks he is hilarious!

The boys have started playing together lately. The crack each other up, wrestle, and play ball. They love to read books and go for walks to the park. I absolutely love everything about them. Motherhood is a blessing and I am enjoying every minute of it. Now, if it could just slow it down a little bit...everything would be perfect!

To celebrate their birthdays we had a party at the park with a few friends. Elmo stopped by to say Hi to all the kids. Some where thrilled. Others were not. We had a great time and thank our friends for joining us!

On their actual birthday, Daddy had to work :( So Mommy and Grammy took them to Disneyland. We all had a great time. They loved the parade, rides, and most of all the suckers!

Happy 2nd Birthday Gavin & Lincoln!!

Steffs Bachelorette Party

This weekend I went to Palm Spring with some of my favorite girls for Stephanie's Bachelorette Party.

We had a blast hanging by the pool

and later went out for a little dancing.
Thanks girls for a fun night!

Easter 2010

Dusty and I colored eggs with the kids but they were interested in eating them than decorating.

We started our day with Easter baskets and an egg hunt that the kids really enjoyed. Gavin stopped to look inside each egg before he proceeded on to find more. Then we enjoyed a delicious brunch with Dusty's family. I was too busy cooking that I forgot to take pictures. Seriously...must I do everything? lol...

Then we went over Melissa and Eric's house for an Easter dinner/birthday party for Evan. The kids had fun playing with their cousins and hunting for more eggs. They are really starting to get the hang of it now.

Activation

Activation day was amazing! I knew the second the Audiologist turned on Lincoln's implant it was a good sign. He jumped, and then immediately started crying and leaped into my lap to be held. We spent the next two hours in the Audiologists office learning how to work the device. Lincoln cried the entire time. It was a bitter sweet day!

The following few days were really tough. Lincoln was petrified by all the new sounds he was hearing. I felt like I was torturing him. He didn't even want to open his eyes. He would just stay in my arms the entire day burying his face in my chest. I have to admit, I was really enjoying the cuddling. After 3-4 days I was able to distract him and he would begin to forget that the implant was on. However, if it fell off (which it does often, we would have to start the process all over again).

This week Lincoln is finally beginning to get back to his normal self. He takes a few minutes to adjust to the implant in the morning. He is still trying to make sense of his new world with sound. I've been told this adjustment will take a few months but soon he will begin to localize sound and begin imitating.

The most exciting part of all of this is that it's just in time for his 2nd birthday. This year, Lincoln will be able to hear his family and friends sing happy birthday to him for the first time! Something I've been looking forward to for a long time! I can't wait!!
